OK Go Do “The Muppets Show Theme Song”

Jason Segel’s The Muppets reboot won’t hit theaters until the fall, but the powers that be are wisely taking advantage of the anticipatory fervor now. In stores this week is The Green Album, a Muppets covers collection highlighted by appearances from Weezer, Alkaline Trio, My Morning Jacket, and Sondre Lerche. And over all those other well-deserving acts, it was OK Go — the pop quartet that’s much, much better known for their viral videos than for their music — that got the plum assignment to tackle “The Muppet Show Theme.” Thankfully, the band didn’t feel the need to bust out any intricate choreography for the accompanying music video (although their past videos are referenced), instead allowing the Muppets work their considerable charm. Statler and Waldorf would still rather watch cat videos, though, and that’s a tough choice to argue with.
