How to Make It In America Trailer: How to Make It on a Post-Entourage HBO

How to Make It in America didn’t exactly set the world on fire in its first season, but it’s not hard to see why HBO invited it back for a second. The show is a pretty brazen attempt to the Entourage lifestyle porn thing; it shares producers, a similar soundtrack, and, eventually, one assumes, if it airs for long enough, girls whose presence is dependent upon their willingness to do nudity in sex scenes. HBO is presumably betting on a rise in demand for that kind of thing with Entourage ending, and that’s theoretically sound thinking. The question, though: Do the same people that cared about movie-star antics care about aspiring male fashion-entrepreneur antics? We would say no, but from the look of this trailer — yachts! Strippers! Billboards! Pharrell! Japanese eel porn! — things have gotten glitzier, and therefore more Entourage-y. Also boding well for How is the presence of James Ransone, who played Ziggy Sobotka, a polarizing but, come on, kind of awesome character in The Wire’s second season. Feeling the good vibes yet? Just skip the bit at the very end, then, where Bryan Greenberg says the words “can’t knock the hustle.”
