The Veronica Mars Movie Trailer Just Validated All Those Kickstarter Donors

Today’s the second-best day to be someone who donated to the Veronica Mars Kickstarter campaign, the one that trampled the crowdsourcing site’s record with 91,585 backers in April 2013. (The third-best day was when the campaign met its $2 million goal in 10 hours; the fourth-best day was when the total amount raised wound up being $5.7 million.) Today could even be better than the March 14 premiere will be, since this is the moment superfans have an actual link they can joyfully send to every single last person who razzed them about wasting $25 just to get a limited-edition T-shirt. But NOW LOOK! Even the so-called friends who’ve never seen Veronica Mars — surely the prime offenders in the “Why are you throwing your money into an Internet toilet?” department — are perking up a little in their chairs right about now, spying what looks like an intriguing, slick movie improbably born from the ashes of a series that aired on UPN and the CW in the mid-2000s.

Noteworthy bits: Veronica and Logan are probably not over; basically everyone (Ryan Hansen, Jason Dohring, Percy Daggs III, Krysten Ritter, Dax “Mr. Kristen Bell” Shepard, Tina Majorino, Francis Capra) is back, thanks largely to a Neptune High School reunion; Jamie Lee Curtis has a cameo; Schmidt, formerly known as Max Greenfield, formerly formerly known as Leo D’Amato, gets not one but two shots; and this is only the third project Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas has ever directed, the first two gigs being VM and Party Down episodes. Nice work, guy!
