Jodie Foster is getting into a nice directing groove. After busting out Little Man Tate and Home for the Holidays in ’91 and ’95, respectively, she paused until 2011’s The Beaver. She kept sharpening her behind-the-camera chops with an episode of House of Cards and a couple installments of Orange Is the New Black, and now she’s ready to direct the movie star, erstwhile Batman, and Italian property owner they call George Clooney.

The project is Money Monster, a thriller about “a TV show host who gets taken hostage by a gunman while on-air and is forced to reveal high-stakes secrets to his (steadily increasing) audience in order to survive.” It sounds like Foster could study the ambience from a number of the films she’s acted in — The Silence of the Lambs or Panic Room, for starters — to create the tension this one will require. Filming is set to start in early 2015.

Clooney’s only other upcoming project is Hail, Caesar! — Joel and Ethan Coen’s story of a 1950s Hollywood fixer, where he’ll appear alongside Josh Brolin, Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, and Jonah Hill. Like Foster, Clooney has dabbled in the directing game, most recently with The Monuments Men and The Ides of March. Ooh, idea — how about after Money Monster, Clooney gives Foster the lead in the next movie he directs?
