Girls in Hoodies Podcast: Hemlock Grove, Otherkin, and 50 Shades of Development Hell

'WHAT!?: I Think I'm An Animal'You’ll have to bear with us a little this week; mere hours before we were set to talk about Reese Witherspoon’s legal troubles for at least twice as long as our Hollywood Prospectus podcast buddies (rivals? RIVALS) did earlier this week, we were informed by Grantland writer and obscure reality specialist Tara Ariano that the television channel Logo had aired a documentary about Otherkin, the heavily Internet-based, often controversial community of humans who believe that they were born into the wrong species, and one of the original topics of conversation the Girls in Hoodies had listed on their conversation-topic wish list. Needless to say, we were thrilled to finally have a reason to talk about wolves and furries.

From there we checked in with Tess to see how she was holding up after her admirable Hemlock Grove binge, and talked about the various trajectories of genre shows and the process of “finding new shows” to add to one’s schedule. (They can’t all be Sunday nights.) Finally, we united in a collective eye roll over Gus Van Sant’s recent bid to direct the 50 Shades of Grey movie, and proposed our own director-star dream teams for the already overhyped project.
