A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas Red Band Trailer: I Saw Harold Shooting Santa Claus
Co-writers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg made their directorial debut on Harold and Kumar Escape Guantanamo Bay, the series’ second installment, but with A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas, they cede the director’s chair to another feature-length newbie, Todd Strauss-Schulson (were they too busy directing American Reunion? Franchise traitors!). Hopefully, the young man has the steady hand to steer the franchise toward a Fast and the Furious-like infinity. So far, at least, things are looking good. According to Wikipedia, there actually is a plot to this movie: After Kumar accidentally burns down Harold’s father-in-law’s (Danny Trejo!) Christmas tree, the two set out through New York on an emergency tree hunt. Sensibly, though, the trailer doesn’t waste time explaining any of that.
Instead, we get an exhilaratingly surreal patchwork of drug trips, punch-ups, and competitive drinking. And while the original trailer was plenty raucous, the new red band truly paints us a picture of the unhinged glory we’ll soon have on our hands. We see Santa rip a bong hit, then get shot and fall to Earth with blood gushing from his head. Later, we see Neil Patrick Harris getting physical in heaven, some full-frontal Claymation male nudity, a coked-up baby, and RZA. All other Christmas-themed entertainment, give up now!
