Hey you, yeah you with all the disposable income. You know what stimulates the economy? Casual sports gambling! But we’re not throwing you in the deep end without some floaties, here. The Triangle has contracted one of Vegas’ most astute handicappers to help you navigate the choppy waters of gambling. Here’s what Erin Rynning had to say.

Are you ready for some football gambling?

Pittsburgh Steelers at Denver Broncos — OVER 33.5
This game opened 35.5, and has now been bet down to 33.5. Certainly note the total was played through the key number of 34. The popular sentiment is obviously against the Broncos scoring in this contest. The Tim Tebow-led Broncos have scored 3 and 14 points the past two weeks, so one can understand why. However, the Broncos have to have something up their sleeve in this game. They must adjust offensively. The Steelers have the offensive firepower to score their fair share of points with their downfield passing game. With a total so low, a defensive or special team’s touchdown goes a long way to cashing a ticket OVER.

Detroit Lions at New Orleans Saints — UNDER 59
I’ve been doing this a long, long time and this is one crazy-high total — especially considering this is a playoff game. In an NFL game, a lot must go right for total points to head north of 60. Keep in mind both of these teams played more than their share of bad defensive teams down the stretch. In fact, both of these defensive units are good enough to present resistance. These two just met on Dec. 4 and the total in that game was 55, and it went UNDER. The only way I know how to make money consistently betting is finding value consistently. This UNDER bet is value!
