Queen Elizabeth Knows the Only Way to Win the Game of Thrones Is Not to Play
Queen Elizabeth II of the House of Windsor — whose sigil is a Pembroke Welsh corgi rampant and aroused with forepaws locked around the lower leg of a navy-blue trouser rumored to be styled after those belonging to her husband/cousin — visited the Belfast set of Game of Thrones as part of her three-day state visit aimed at stoking sectarian tensions in Northern Ireland. Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were on hand to guide the queen regnant and her human corsage, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, through the interior sets of the Red Keep, where she met cast members Conleth Hill, Lena Headey, Rose Leslie, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, and Maisie Williams next to the Iron Throne. The queen eyed the the symbol of Westerosi power warily, and declined to sit in the former seat of Aegon the Conqueror, telling Prince Philip to wait in the car after he expressed an interest in doing so himself.
