‘Watch the Thrones’: Live in Brooklyn

Jordan Schulkin

On Thursday night, the Watch the Thrones crew was joined by several hundred of our closest friends at the Rock Shop in Brooklyn for a live performance of our podcast. It was pretty thrilling to see just how many people will come out to watch four dorks talk about a television show. Before the doors opened, the line was wrapped around the block, despite the night being dark and full of terrors (or at least sweltering humidity). The four of us were totally blown away by the crowd — we are seriously not worthy, and to everyone who couldn’t get in, we really apologize. We hope to be back soon, at a bigger venue.

The show got off to a fun start, with Andy appearing onstage like the Night’s King of TV critics that he is …

Andy and I talked about who won the season, who lost the season, and what was the most pointless plotline. I was then joined by Mallory, and we discussed some of the must-have accessories from Season 5. Andy and Jason talked about the cuisine of Game of Thrones. Come for the Three-Finger Hobbs breakfast, but stay for Manderly’s pie.

We broke briefly to remember the fallen (thanks to the amazing Jason Gallagher for the video) …

… and then the four horsemen of Westeros took the stage to play a little game called Stump the Non-Maesters. I think I won, because I play the game of thrones to win. Duh.

We were then joined onstage by noted Highgarden scholar Rembert Browne, who helped us with some fan questions from Twitter. Afterward, we had some of Cersei’s finest vintage and watched LeBron. Pretty much a perfect night. Thanks again for everyone who came out to see us, especially those of you who couldn’t get in (REALLY SORRY ABOUT THAT). Also, shout-out to Rock Shop for being lovely hosts, and Joe Fuentes, Ryan Nantell, and Jordan Schulkin for making us look and sound good (and providing Sons of the Harpy masks).
