The Sacramento Kings’ radical plan to crowdsource the NBA draft

In May, Sacramento Kings GM Pete D’Alessandro made a staggering announcement: The team would crowdsource the amateur NBA analytics community — a collection of often brilliant but inexperienced minds — to determine whether to trade the eighth pick in the draft and, if the Kings keep their pick, whom to select. This exclusive short film, directed by Jonathan Hock, goes inside the Kings’ draft room, deep into the organization, to get a peek at how the dominoes might fall on Thursday night, and how the Kings lined them up.
