NFL Week 9 Over/Unders from the Sharps
Hey you, yeah you with all the disposable income. You know what stimulates the economy? Casual sports gambling! But we’re not throwing you in the deep end without some floaties, here. The Triangle has contracted two of Vegas’ most astute handicappers to help you navigate the choppy waters of gambling, going into this eighth weekend of the NFL season. Here’s what they had to say.
Are you ready for some football gambling?
From Erin Rynning:
Atlanta/Indianapolis OVER the total 44.5
The return of Julio Jones after missing the previous two games will open up the offense for the Falcons. With absolutely nothing to lose the Colts put together an extremely conservative offensive game plan last week against the Titans. Look for the Colts to at least try and open things up on Sunday.
NY Jets/Buffalo Bills UNDER 44
Ground and pound! That’s ear popping music for an NFL under, and especially for one priced in the mid-40 range. Last week we touched on the Bills proficiency in the red zone this year, and pointed to a correction upcoming. The start was last week, and they’ll face a tough time this week against a strong Jets defense scoring touchdowns.
Cincinnati/Tennessee UNDER 42
This total opened 40 and it simply doesn’t make sense being bet up to 42. The Bengals garnered all of 252 yards last week in Seattle, which should have been equal to roughly 14 points. They are still led by a rookie quarterback on the road against a quality and deep defense. Meanwhile, Matt Hasselbeck is showing signs of turning back into the Matt Hasselbeck of the past three seasons, and this Bengals defense is rock solid.
From Bryan Leonard:
Now 16-8 on the season. You can follow us on Twitter @BLeonardSports
Cleveland at Houston UNDER 41
The Browns have only surpassed 17 points once all season and that was against the winless Colts. They are down to their third string running back and they just brought back a rusher who they cut before the season. Cleveland wins with defense and field position which will be a key here. Houston has faced three quality defenses this season scoring 17 against Pittsburgh, 14 against Baltimore and 24 against Jacksonville.
Miami at Kansas City Under 40 1/2
Miami has scored 17 points or less in six straight games and that includes the questionable defenses of Denver and the Giants the last two weeks. In four road games this season Miami games have produced 37, 30, 40 and 33 points, all under the posted total here. Chiefs defense is improving weekly and the offense lacks a big play threat.
NY Giants at New England Over 50 1/2
The Giants have played almost a full schedule against bad offensive teams. Washington, St Louis, Arizona, Seattle and Miami have made these defensive numbers better than they really are. The bruised and battered Giant defense will be tested here by a Patriots scoring unit off two subpar games. Keep in mind that until being held to 20 by Dallas Brady and company scored 30 or more in 13 straight games. New York has the offensive weapons to make this a shootout.
