Boys: Did It Really Take This Long to Do a Perfect Parody of Girls?
Take Girls. Now replace the chicks with dudes and move it to Los Angeles. But keep the part where everyone’s the offspring of someone famous, and the thing where the lead’s not afraid of full-frontal nudity. OK? OK! Now we’ve got Boys. Is it time to start the backlash? Or can we just move directly to the backlash to the backlash? There will be plenty of time to fight about whether or not this accurately represents the twentysomething L.A. experience (it does — everyone here is exactly like this) when it premieres on HBO in the fall. Let’s meet back here in eight weeks and have that debate after everyone’s seen the first three episodes; we don’t want it to become another situation where the critics are using their advance screeners to dominate the conversation.
Also, Bear Blitzer: Your junk is beautiful. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.
