Watch Barack Obama and Zach Galifianakis Hash Out the Issues on ‘Between Two Ferns’
Ready to see the president of the United States and the man who gave Justin Bieber a spanking communicate face-to-face for six minutes? Probably not, but give it a try anyway. You’ll see Between Two Ferns host Zach Galifianakis looking a little more put-together than usual and you will immediately wonder if the episode with “Barack Obama (sp?), Community Organizer” might veer in a little more of a serious direction than usual. Then Galifianakis asks Obama about pardoning a turkey last Thanksgiving; Obama asks if that was hard for Galifianakis, having one turkey out there he couldn’t eat. Zach’s like …
And Barry’s like …
And that’s all before the one-minute mark. From there, Obama targets The Hangover Part III, Galifianakis’s weight and looks, and Galifianakis’s unsuitability to be near Michelle Obama (who incidentally took part in her own health-based viral silliness recently — let’s see who goes viral-er!). Galifianakis takes aim at Obama’s nerdiness, his basic basketball skills, and the escalating situation in North Ikea.
The don’t-miss exchange, though:
“I have to know: What is it like to be the last black president?”
“Seriously? What’s it like for this to be the last time you ever talk to a president?”
It’s good. And maybe you’ll learn something about health care in the process. (“We have to find ways to break through,” Dan Pfeiffer, Obama’s senior adviser and chief communications strategist, told the New York Times about the Between Two Ferns taping. “This is essentially an extension of the code we have been trying to crack for seven years now.”)
